By definition, trends come and go. Some last longer than others, some make an appearance every 10 or 15 years. If you’re an early adopter like me, you’ll want to keep your finger on the pulse of new home design trends and keep your home current. I’ve been seeing a few trends emerging this year, and I figured I should clue you in on what’s brewing for home design in 2017.

1. Matte Appliances

You heard right. Today’s homeowners are getting tired of smudgy fingerprints on their stainless steel refrigerators. The alternative is a more sleek, less “in-your-face,” matte look. I love it.

2. Marble Countertops:

Last year, marble started making a comeback, and now it’s in full swing. Kitchen counters, bathroom sinks, tile and accent pieces are all getting a touch of class with marble this year.

3. Subway Tiles:

This very affordable tile is continuing to gain attention this year for its diversity of colors, patterns and sizes. Subway tile is a solid choice for a shower or a unique patterned bathroom wall or kitchen backsplash. The options are just about endless!

4. Smart Home Features

It’s not the way of the future anymore. Smart appliances are very much a part of modern life now, and it’s not a gimmick or a fad. The energy efficiency and ease of use of new home technologies make them a very good idea for 2017.
